Vibraphonist/Composer Jay Hoggard Debuts New Album, RAISE YOUR SPIRIT CONSCIOUSNESS, January 9, 2023 NEW YORK, NY – With 22 recordings as a leader, and performances around the globe, vibraphonist/composer Jay Hoggard has been one of the most enduring and innovative masters on his instrument since the 1970s. A direct musical descendant of Lionel Hampton, Milt Jackson, Lem Winchester and Bobby Hutcherson, Hoggard’s omni-directional artistry encompasses the myriad musical dimensions of the African Diaspora and its spiritual resonances.
Award-Winning Violinist Regina Carter Performs Her Multi-Media Work, Gone in a Phrase of Air, at August Wilson African American Cultural Center’s Uhuru Jazz Series Wednesday, December 14, 7:00 pm and 9:00 pm PITTSBURGH, PA – Violinist and NEA Jazz Master Regina Carter is the most accomplished musician on her instrument of her generation. The recipient of multiple Grammy nominations, a Doris Duke Award, and a MacArthur Genius Grant, Carter has been a shining star on the jazz scene for three decades. With over 10 recordings as a leader, she has performed music that spans jazz, Latin, classical, world and Appalachian genres. On Wednesday, December 14, 7:00 pm and 9:00 pm, Carter comes the August Wilson African American Cultural Center’s (AWAACC) Uhuru Jazz Series to perform her latest project, Gone in a Phrase of Air.
