HARLEM, NY — As part of its continuing SUMMERFEST 2022 series, Jazzmobile, New York City’s oldest jazz education/performance organization, in association with the City Parks Foundation, presents The Charlie Parker Festival, bringing the Dallas-born, Grammy-nominated singer Jazzmeia Horn and her Noble Force to Marcus Garvey Park on Friday, August 26, at 7:00 pm. Opening for Ms. Horn will be Brooklyn tap dancer/DJ/educator Calvin Booker and Friends.

New York, NY — The Central Park Conservancy and Jazzmobile are delighted to welcome back Great Jazz on the Great Hill, a free community event on Saturday, August 13 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. The event features a lineup of world-renowned jazz performers for New Yorkers, tourists, and visitors of all ages to enjoy while lounging or swing dancing in Central Park. The event is weather permitting, and tickets are NOT required. No refreshments will be sold during the event.

HARLEM, NY – It’s Summer, that special time when New York City opens its vast array of parks and outdoor spaces to the sound of music. Jazzmobile returns with its 58th annual Summerfest series, which takes over a myriad of stages throughout the city’s five boroughs with a dancing and diverse assemblage of nearly 30 jazz stars and emerging talents from July 6 to August 31. The much-anticipated return of Jazzmobile presents audiences with another year of Free top-notch musical performances that parallel New York City’s dynamic diversity – from straight-ahead, Latin, post-bop, blues, swing and beyond.

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY, June 21, 2022 – Jazz in the Valley (JITV) returns to Poughkeepsie’s Waryas Park on Sunday, August 21, noon to 6:00 pm, with a celebration of the Legacy, History and the Future of Jazz. Presented by TRANSART & Cultural Services, Inc., and led by Guest Curator Craig Harris, the day-long festival celebrates the centennial of bassist/composer/bandleader Charles Mingus (1922-1979) with Harris, Buster Williams (pictured above), Regina Carter, Camille Thurman, Carla Cook, Michael King and Joaquin Pozo, who, in the spirit of Mingus, are taking the music forward.

A graduate of the Berklee School of Music, with a BA in Music Production and Engineering, Calhoun combines his love for sound and science when he brings his revolutionary Rhythm Art/AZA collection to the National Museum of Mathematics (MoMath), 11 E. 26th Street in New York City, April 30 – July 31 in the Museum’s Composite Gallery.
