NEWPORT, RI, January 23, 2018 – George Wein and Christian McBride today announced the First Wave of artists for the 2018 Newport Jazz Festival® presented by Natixis Investment Managers, which takes place at Fort Adams State Park and the International Tennis Hall of Fame at the Newport Casino August 3 – 5.

Tickets go on sale today at 10:00 am (EST) at www.newportjazz.org.

The partial lineup features some of the best in traditional and modern jazz, including Charles Lloyd’s 80th Birthday Celebration featuring three different groups; Andra Day; Living Colour; Artemis featuring Cécile McLorin Salvant, Renee Rosnes, Anat Cohen, Melissa Aldana, Ingrid Jensen, Noriko Ueda and Allison Miller; Rudresh Mahanthappa Indo-Pak Coalition; Mary Halvorson’s Code Girl; Michel Camilo; James Carter Organ Trio; Jazzmeia Horn; and Matthew Shipp Trio.

to Schools in Rhode Island,
with a Debut Performance
in a Providence High School

NEWPORT, RI, January 19, 2018 – Newport Jazz Festival Assembly, a performance series presented by Newport Festivals Foundation, Inc. that brings music to elementary schools throughout Rhode Island, hits the road next week, this time including a stop at The Met High School in Providence.

The series, funded by Newport Festivals Foundation, Inc. with support from Robert F. Smith, connects professional musicians to schools with minimal or no music programs to present jazz concerts for students who may not have had the experience of attending a live concert.

Go On Sale January 23, 10:00 AM (EST)

NEWPORT, RI, January 16, 2018 – Last call for Early Bird tickets for the 2018 Newport Jazz Festival® presented by Natixis Investment Managers. On Tuesday, January 23, at 10:00 am (EST), all ticket types will go on sale and the early bird discounts will end. In addition, Producer/Founder George Wein and Artistic Director Christian McBride will announce the First Wave of artists for this year’s festival, which is set for August 3 – 5 at Fort Adams State Park and the International Tennis Hall of Fame at the Newport Casino.

All tickets, except for the Friday evening concert at the International Tennis Hall of Fame, will be available at www.newportjazz.org.
