NEWPORT, RI, October 30, 2018 – Jazz fans around the world are invited to be among the first to purchase tickets at a great discount to the 2019 Newport Jazz Festival® presented by Natixis Investment Managers, which takes place August 2 – 4. Flex tickets (good for any day at Fort Adams State Park) go on sale Thursday, November1, at 10:00 am (EST).

A TRIBUTE TO ARETHA FRANKLIN:
THE QUEEN OF SOUL
in three cities in November, including City Winery in New York on November 6

New York, NY (October 15, 2018) – Sarah Dash, who made musical magic with Patti Labelle & The Bluebelles and Labelle, will premiere her new show, A Tribute to Aretha Franklin: The Queen of Soul, in three cities this November. This special concert celebration will feature Sarah Dash singing all the great Aretha Franklin classics (including Respect, Chain of Fools, Freeway of Love, Ain't No Way, Jump to It), and telling inside stories of her friendship with The Queen. Bernard Purdy, who played in Ms. Franklin's band through the years, will be the musical director for these performances.

New Journey Church Hosts Blessing of the Animals Service on Sunday, October 7, 3:30 pm

October 4, 2018 – In the spirit of the Feast of St. Francis, celebrated around the world on October 4, New Journey Church of Brooklyn, 480 Bainbridge Street between Howard and Saratoga, will hold its first Blessing of the Animals service on Sunday, October 7, at 3:30 pm. All animals and their people are welcome, and pets should be brought to church on leashes or in carriers.

St. Francis of Assisi (1182-1226) is the patron saint of animals and environment. He cared for the poor and sick, preached to animals and praised all creatures as brothers and sisters under God. Today, furry friends are as much a part of families as the humans who care for them, and churches around the world celebrate St. Francis with animal blessings.

NEW YORK, NY, October 3, 2018 – The Center for Jazz Studies at Columbia University celebrates GLORY: A Life Among Legends, the new memoir by renowned dancer, educator, producer and author Dr. Glory Van Scott with a special program and book party on Monday, October 15, 6:00 pm. The celebration will be held in the East Gallery of Buell Hall, Maison Française, on the Columbia University Main Campus, 116th & Broadway in New York City.
