WBGO Travel: A Musical Journey Around the World
with Stops in Montreal, Newport,

Newark, NJ, June 4, 2013 – WBGO Jazz 88.3 loves its home base in Newark, NJ, but when it comes to enjoying jazz at some of the world’s most beautiful destinations, the station’s travel team has its bags packed and is ready to roll. WBGO Travel designs first-class packages for visits to amazing domestic and international locations for world-famous jazz festivals and deluxe tours offering exclusive opportunities for tour guests.

The series kicks off with four incredible jazz experiences including:

Montreal Jazz Festival, Montreal, Quebec, Canada, June 30 – July 3, 2013: One of the world’s leading music destinations, this festival takes over the heart of downtown Montreal for 10 days of non-stop entertainment from noon to midnight.  The package includes accommodations for three nights at the Hyatt Regency Montreal, the official hotel of the Festival. Guests will enjoy great concerts including tickets to see Gregory Porter, a walking food tour of The Jean-Talon Market, breakfast with the Festival’s Artistic Director and Co-Founder, Andre Menard, hosted by WBGO's Michael Bourne plus lunch at Michael’s favorite spot, Pizzedelic, a behind-the-scenes tour of the Montreal Jazz Festival and more. Newport Jazz Festival, Newport, RI, August 2 – 5, 2013: Go for a day, go for the weekend, but join WBGO at America’s first annual jazz festival, which has been leading the way since 1954. For the weekend trip, guests will arrive at the Newport Hotel & Marina for a Friday night welcome reception and then head off for an evening with Natalie Cole and the Bill Charlap Trio with Freddy Cole at the International Tennis Hall of Fame. Saturday and/or Sunday morning, hop aboard the ferry for Fort Adams State Park with the beautiful Narragansett Bay as a backdrop. Saturday performances include Wayne Shorter, Esperanza Spalding, Gregory Porter, Marcus Miller and Robert Glasper; Sunday concerts include Chick Corea, Eddie Palmieri, Roy Haynes, Joshua Redman and Hiromi. Also included are food & drink vouchers for the Louis Jadot Café and a bon voyage breakfast on Monday. The deluxe package costs $2,250 for double occupancy. If music lovers want to enjoy the festival but not stay the weekend, WBGO is offering day trips to the Newport Jazz Festival from New York City and Boston. One day excursions include round-trip bus transportation from New York or Boston to the festival gate, admission to the festival and meal vouchers. Busses will be equipped with Wi-Fi, restroom, reclining bucket seats and a Newport Jazz Festival themed movie as on-board entertainment.

In partnership with Jazz at Lincoln Center and Jazz Times, New York travelers will board the bus on Saturday and/or Sunday at 5:00 am at Jazz at Lincoln Center (10 Columbus Circle NY, NY) located at The Time Warner Building at the front circle. In partnership with JazzBoston (a nonprofit advocacy organization that connects, supports, and promotes the entire Greater Boston jazz scene), WBGO's Boston trip departs on Saturday and/or Sunday at 8:00 am from the historic Wally's Jazz Café, located at 427 Massachusetts Avenue. Return Busses will depart from Newport Jazz Festival Front Gate at approximately 7:00 pm. Umbria Winter Jazz Festival, Orvieto, Italy, December 26, 2013 – January 2, 2014: Great music, culture, scenery and cuisine are the key ingredients that make this the perfect way to spend a New Year holiday. Jazz on the Mountain at Mohonk, NY, January 17 – 20, 2014: For the fourth consecutive year, WBGO extends a personal invitation to celebrate jazz at the historic Mohonk Mountain House resort located at 1000 Mountain Rest Road, New Paltz, NY, in the picturesque Catskills. WBGO announcer Michael Bourne will once again host this stellar program with a line-up of jazz greats including Anat Cohen, Fred Hersch, Julian Lage, Joe Locke, Scott Robinson, Matt Wilson, Martin Wind and more.
