MIAMI, FL – PALO! Live, the sophomore CD by Miami’s award-winning Afro-Cuban Funk band, PALO!, debuted at #20 on the CMJ World Music Chart. Recorded live in front of a standing room only crowd last August in Miami, the CD is now reaping airplay in the band’s hometown as well as across the country.

Among the cities catching Palo! Fever are Burlington, VT (WRUV); Boulder, CO (KVCU); Traverse City, MI (WNMC);  Lexington, KY (WRFL); Poughkeepsie, NY (WVKR), Grand Junction, CO (KAFM); Grand Rapids, MN (KAXE & WYCE), River Grove/Chicago, IL (WRRG); New Brunswick, NJ (WRSU); Tampa/St. Petersburg, FL (WMNF); St. Louis, MO (KDHX); Carbondale/Denver, CO (KDNK); Durham/Raleigh, NC (WXDU); Spindale/Greenville/Asheville, NC (WNCW); Richmond, VA (WRIR); Honolulu, HI (KTUH); Waterville/Portland/Poland Spring, ME (WMHB); Lewiston/Portland/Poland Spring, ME (WRBC); Champaign/Springfield/Decatur, IL (WEFT); and others.

"This music nearly set the station on fire last night and I only played one track on air (Camina Con Los Codos), said  DJ Jay Paul, World Music Director at WRUV-FM, located at the University of Vermont in Burlington. “I think this one is going to get a lot of airplay.”

Kudos continued to pour in when The Best of Miami poll named PALO! the Best Latin Band Miami 2014.  The band also was featured in Miami Boheme: An American Musical Journey, an exciting, information-packed documentary that exams Latin fusion music, which debuted on PBS in March.

"Having grown up in Miami as a musician, and seeing PALO! become one of the main bands in this musical movement, it's an honor to learn that other cities across the nation are enjoying our music,” said Steve Roitstein, who founded the band in 2003.  "It's thrilling to watch how new people react, how they can't help but dance and get involved, and we are looking forward to celebrating the music with new friends in the cities where our CD is being played. " added Roitstein.

Digital sales are brisk in the US, Europe and Latin America. PALO! will be performing at Festival Cubano in Chicago, August 17, 2014. The band also currently has monthly residencies at Havana 1957 in Miami and Yuca on Miami Beach.

PALO! performs its own brand of music the group calls “Afro-Cuban Funk”. The group’s unique, danceable sound blends the allure of Cuban music with funky beats and jazzy improvisation. PALO!’s catchy original songs feature the sultry vocals of Latin Grammy-nominated Leslie Cartaya and the impromptu virtuosity of legendary saxophonist Ed Calle. The scorching percussion and vocals of Philbert Armenteros and Raymer Olalde punctuate their performances with Cuban fire. Producer/pianist Steve Roitstein (Celia Cruz, Willy Chirino) fuses these elements with a foundation of edgy, unforgettable rhythms. The band’s debut CD, This Is Afro-Cuban Funk, continues to garner rave reviews.
