“We are proud to be a part of the Newport family for the past 61 years and we’re looking forward to getting together with area baseball fans when we present Folk and Jazz Night at historic Cardines Field,” said George Wein, chairman of the Newport Festivals Foundation, which produces the Folk and Jazz Festivals. “There are few things more American than baseball combined with jazz and folk music, and we’re excited to celebrate our community partnerships at this special family event.”

Throughout the ball game, the Gulls will do ticket promotions, giving baseball and music fans the opportunity to win tickets to the Newport Jazz Festival and the sold-out Newport Folk Festival.
The Newport Folk Festival takes place July 24-26 at Fort Adams State Park and features Roger Waters, The Decemberists, ’65 Revisited (celebration of the 50th anniversary Bob Dylan going electric at Newport Folk Festival), The Tallest Man on Earth, Sufjan Stevens, Hozier and many more. The Newport Jazz Festival is the following weekend, July 31-August 2, at Fort Adams and the International Tennis Hall of Fame at the Newport Casino with Chris Botti, Jon Batiste and Stay Human, Cassandra Wilson, Dr. John, Snarky Puppy, Arturo Sandoval and many others.
